I'm laughing so hard, I'm going to explode!!
The advertising geniuses at Taco Bell have done it again. In the true spirit of democracy and promoting civic duty, Taco Bell is now giving CA voters the chance to "buy" the votes of their favorite candidates. If you wish to throw your support behind Arnold Schwartzenegger, simply purchase a crunchy beef taco. If you wish to stand behind our current governor Gray Davis, then a chicken soft taco (love the unspoken imagery there) would be your sustaining fuel.
If you say "meh" to either candidate, then support the wheel of third parties by purchasing a Grilled Stuft Burrito. This is pure marketing fun and genius at work here. One question though, what do we buy if we support none of the above?
After all, my vote's behind Galactus.

Wow, check out the lineup of this concert!
The Cure
Duran Duran
Hot Hot Heat
Dashboard Confessional
Interpol
Echo and the Bunnymen
Violent Femmes
Psychedelic Furs
Fountains of Wayne
Bow Wow Wow
General Public
Marc Almond of Soft Cell
Berlin
Dramarama
Is that a sweet lineup or what? As I'm already going to the Wilco/REM concert next month, there's just no way I could afford this. So it looks like I'll have to call in to win tix. I'd love to see the Cure as well as Duran Duran.
You talk about re-living your grade school days. Time to get my cans of AquaNet, Oakley Frogskins, acid wash jeans and my Swatch watch out of mothballs.

O Blessed Day of Rest
On Sunday I was approached by one of my fellow deacons who had a stack of paperback books in pristene condition from the 1970’s. Apparently he had been going through his library, doing a little cleaning and decided that it was time to consolidate. Knowing that I was an unrepentant bibliophile, he brought them to church and asked if I would be interested in them (an unnecessary question if there ever was one). My eyes glazed over when I saw the selection: Structure of Biblical Authority by Kline, Christian View of Man and What is Faith by Machen. A couple of older volumes from P&R’s Theological and Philosophical Library; one by Clowney on the church (I have his later expanded volume by IVP) and one by Singer on the roots and fruits of John Calvin - pause for angel song –
I was speechless. I asked him if he was sure he wanted to part with these, to which he said “Oh sure, I may have more for you in the coming weeks”. Note to self: make sure you have a change of pants and/or start wearing Depends before going to church.
After church, one of my elders invited our family over to his place for some BBQ and a dip in his pool. Being that the temperature was 90+ degrees, we quickly took him up on his offer. He made 1 lb hamburgers with real cheddar and spicy jack cheeses and grilled them to perfection. It was hilarious stuff seeing my two boys trying to fit their tiny, but all too determined mouths around that beast of a hamburger. Our family thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality and the boys had a ball going down the pool slide and being chased by my elder’s two teenage sons.
