Oh yeah, I saw the Animatrix over the weekend as well. All nine of the vignettes were very well done, none really disappointed me. I was surprised at the level of storytelling that each one had. Not just mere cartoons, these short stories were visually stunning and packed quite an emotional wallop. Perhaps the most bone-chilling was the two part "The Second Renaissance" which tells the story of how Mankind came under subjection to the machines as a result of their own stupidity and hatred. The scene where a group of thugs mercilessly beat a human looking android to it's "death" during a bout of lynch mob violence made my teeth grit in anger as I thought about the many similar instances that mankind has propagated on one another.
My favorite one though had to be "Beyond" in which a young woman, while on a quest to find her lost cat, stumbles upon a "haunted" house in which broken bottles reassemble and falls to the ground are stopped just before impact. A fun story with a deep message about how there are so very few moments of true wonder in this world, and how when we find them, our first notion is to squash them.
All in all, a very enjoyable hour of talespinning...go get it.

I really have nothing to post, but I'm getting tired of looking at my last post so, I'll throw in some things of interest that has been occupying my time:
- You need to read Rev. Mark Horne's sermon on the Acension of Christ. One of the most important doctrines of the Christian faith that is by and large forgotten in these days of justifanaticism.
- Rev. Jeff Meyers has written an excellent series of articles over at Meshereth Magazine about Man's intrinsic need for community. Man desires community because he is made in the image of God, who is also a community (three in one).
He also hits on a neat little theodicy to those who desire a tangible sign of God's existence:
"Perhaps because of all our pious talk about having a “personal relationship” with God, we effectively suppress the ever-present, untidy fact that He’s not here to talk with or to see or to experience directly in any normal sense. Adam will experience the fact that fellowship with God Himself is not going to be enough. That’s not heresy. God declares it to be so!... Even before the fall, God only partially gives Himself to Adam. One of the reasons for this is so that humanity would develop socially, as a community. If God were to be personally, audibly present to each of us at any or every moment of the day, we would never need to talk to anyone else! There would be no need for community...But God has removed His perceptible presence from us in order to mature us as communities, to give us husbands and wives, parents and children, sisters and brothers, and friends and neighbors."
Check out "It Is Not Good For Man To Be Alone" - parts 1, 2, and 3.
- Every once in awhile, my gender awareness kicks in and shows me how truly different men are from women. On Sunday my brother-in-law came over and hung out while his fiancee and Karlene were away at a bridal shower. We took in the Dodger game on TV for a little while, before dozing off for a couple of hours. We then watched Office Space after which we read a bit. Total time spent: 6 hours...Total words spoken: maybe 20 (most of which were Office Space quotes). I gar-on-tee that if women were mixed into that situtaion, the verbal content would be much more, what's a nice way of saying this, filled out?
All in all it was a very male afternoon, you gotta have those every once in a while.
- I made it a point to catch about 30 minutes of the Tonys before I switched it off in dismay. Is there not one straight male in the theatre today? Sheesh.

Yesterday I made the mistake of taking leftover steak from the night before as my lunch. Mmmm...microwaved steak, nothin' better. If you ever get the hankerin' for tire rubber, just make sure you have a pre-cooked steak, a microwave, 20 minutes of time that you can devote to chewing and a hearty supply of Maalox.
