A brief list of certain things I have ingested over the last 48 hours:
- 1 slice of boysenberry pie
- Cherry Rhubarb
- Cranberry/Orange Sauce
- HOT Salsa
- 3 cups of coffee
- 4 glasses of wine
- 2 BBQ Beef Ribs
- 4 bottles of beer
- 3 cans of soda
To say I'm experiencing mild acid reflux would be an understatement.

Happy Birthday To The Man
This was the guy whose job I wanted (and still want) growing up in So. Cal. He taught me that baseball is more than a game, it was a worldview, it was poetry. He has 10x's more talent in his pinky finger than all of those Fox "Game of the Week" blowhards have collectively (maybe with the slight exception of Joe Buck).
Happy 75th B-Day Vinny! May you have many more to come.

Having to work on the day after Thanksgiving is downright criminal.

Welp, the Thanksgiving weekend is here and so I start my feasting. Tonight we celebrate with Karlene's side of the family as we head off to Knott's Berry Farm for their "World Famous (or so they say) Chicken Dinner". So we'll have about 20 people jam packed into Mrs. Knotts as we feast on chicken.
Then tomorrow we head over to my aunt and uncle's house where we watch football, play cards and the like. It used to be kind of uncomfortable when we would begin the big meal as I, the one time pastor wannabe, would be asked to pray. It used to be something I would think about and try to prepare.
There are many things to be thankful for this year and one of them was to be introduced to the blogs of various saints who were working through the issues of what it means to be in covenant. My understanding of the covenant has grown 10x's than when I began the year and I started to see my election in terms of the covenant rather than vice-versa. This has affected how I see the world around me, how I view my friends and family (both saved and unsaved).
So this year I figure, the best thing for me to do is to be a gracious, loving example of a person in covenant with Merciful God, who gladdens himself and is gladdened in the presence of his family. And so when asked to pray this year, I will offer up thanksgiving to God with a joyful heart for all of his covenant care and blessings upon my family. God willing my peace and joy will be evident and they will know that the Lord is with me and I with the Lord.

Last night we had a naked baby roaming around the house, now granted the baby was ours, nonetheless coming home from work it was quite a sight to behold. You see we are in the process of toilet training Caleb, a laborious and time-consuming project met with not a little resistance. Josh and I have tried to reason with him (Josh: "How can you go poop in your diapers, doesn't it hurt?", Caleb: "No, I like poop in diapers"). Finally Kar and I broke down and started to provide incentives. The deal is this, for going number one he gets one M&M for going number two, two M&M's. Man talk about your sweet deals, immediately I started to think about ways that I could get in on the action too.
At any rate I'm proud to report that after much cajoling and pleading, Caleb finally recieved two M&M's!! WOO HOO!! We called grandparents, Josh danced a victory dance while explaining to his little bro how the whole world will be his oyster now that he's wearing underwear. Amid the celebration, Caleb beamed with a weary but self-satisfied pride.
10 minutes later he decided to add something special to his bathwater (gotta work on that whole number one thing now).

I love the fact that theologians and pastors use the blog to hammer out their various thoughts on subjects. I am grateful to Tim Gallant for this valuable observation about docetism and how it creeps subtly into our Christology (note: scroll down to 11-25-02 @ 9:06 PM). I have no idea why it is so controversial to say that Jesus' faith justified Him before the Father. I guess because it's playing with the term "justification", which admittedly is a word pregnant with preconcieved ideas of solely pre-death forensic declaration. Maybe another word is needed, vindication?
The fact of the matter is that Jesus knew our every experience and suffered from our every weakness (yet was without sin) in order to be our Great High Priest (Heb. 5:7-9) and inherit His kingdom (Phil. 2:5-11). Why would this not include justification?

Yeah I'm still alive. I really have nothing of value to blog about right now, so in lieu of the Nick Nolte mugshots I'll post this timely piece from Tim Terrell at Chalcedon, responding to the new evanjellyfish fad of WWJD, or, What Would Jesus Drive?
