I'm gonna start a band.
All that's stopping me is a complete lack of musical knowledge and talent save for about 10 chords on the guitar. That's 7 more than the Ramones used right?
I can write lyrics but I couldn't put them to music to save my life.
And my singing can be described as a cross between Barry Manilow and Jack White from the White Stripes.
But I'm still gonna start a band.

Oh man I am dying from laughter.
Check out The Book-A-Minute website offering super-super-condensed book abridgments. No I'm not being redundant, for example check out Beowulf
These are hilarious.

V: Invasion of the Man-eating, Alien, Lizard Nazis.
Ok, so I was in the Best Buy looking for the new Elvis CD when what should I gaze upon but a DVD set for one of the finest pieces of '80's sci-fi cheese ever created.
I don't know how I forgot about V, but I can truly say that it once took a hold of my 8-year old mind. I had both miniseries on VHS as well as all 19 episodes of the ill-received TV series. I remembered crying like a baby when my Mom told me that the series was canceled. I had the trading cards and the lunchbox as well as a Ken-sized doll with a removable plastic human face that revealed the sinister lizard face underneath (complete with pro and retracting forked tongue).
As I read the DVD box, my mind flashed back to arcane 80's actors like Jeff Yagher and Marc "Beastmaster" Singer as well as one of my current favorite tough-guy character actors, Michael Ironside (Yeeehaaaa...Jester's dead). I remember having the biggest crush on Dr. Julie as well as the horrible red padded outfits with the symbol that strangely (and not coincidentally) resembled a swastika. I recollected the horror the first time I saw Diana's "lizard" eyes, and not sleeping very well after seeing Robin slam raw meat, and give birth to a dancing alien, lizard baby (That's all the explanation I'll give, words are not enough to describe the sheer creepiness of that scene).
I remember the "starchild" human baby, Elizabeth and how she aged as she pupated in a goo-filled cocoon (oh, the screaming) and kept a bomb from going off by using her magical, starburst powers (an unlikely deus ex machina if there ever was one).
Man, them's the days huh?

Conversation in the Car
Me and Karly: (singing the Maranantha chorus) He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it...
Josh: Don't sing that, that's a Jack and Jill song, we should sing castle songs.
Me: What's a castle song Josh?
Josh: (in a falseto voice) Ohhhhhhhhh, Awwww-uh-uh-uhhhh, Ohhhhhhhh-awww, oh-aw, oh-aw-ohhhh, Ahhhhhhhhh-mehhhhhnnnn.
Me: Woah, that's a castle song huh? Do you mean classical Josh?
Josh: No a castle song because I'm a prince and God is king.
I've turned my little boy into a TR (Truly Reformed) with all the Psalms I play in the morning. Hoo-hah!

Well so much for the Sunday School lesson, or my computer for that matter. The time of death was 12:14 A.M PST on 10-27-02. I was just about to print out my lesson for SS when all of a sudden I got the good ol' BSOD (For non-Windows users that's the Blue Screen Of Death). The message went something like this:
"Windows is closing because of ablah-blah-blah-video-blah-blah-blah-drivers-blah-blah-restart Windows in safe mode-blah-blah-blah-disable BIOS-blah-blah-blah-hit the F8 key-blah-blah-blah."
So as you can see the problem is serious.
Well I did the Ctrl-Alt-Delete and nothing happened. Then I shut it off altogether. I think this made it mad because now the durned thing won't boot up and I get nothing when I turn on the monitor. Brutal, man....just brutal.
So my blogging will be less frequent this week because of a sudden onrush of work at my job. (More work, less free time = less blogging...life ain't fair).
On the upside IPC Press in Georgia will be releasing the second volume of "Psalms of the Trinity Psalter" for $8.00 pre-pub special. Over thirty psalms on this one and right now you can get both vols. 1 & 2 for $8.00 each. If interested then e-mail them at Bookshop@ipcsav.org. It's good stuff.
